We are a little late sharing these last two videos. Although we lack this kind of terrain in MS, the videos still highlight what a good volunteer group can do.
With the bottom half of the trail nearly complete, the build crew knocks out some woodwork before heading to the high alpine. Once above the tree line they make the transition from stump pulling and bridge building to more straightforward benching…a lot of benching. Watch the dirt fly and the trail sections begin to connect as the crew nears the completion of the Peak to Creek trail.
We began the story of the Peak to Creek trail 12 weeks ago with Matt, Mike and Bill stomping around the in the heart of the Kootenays with high alpine dreams. Today those dreams are realized, as riders Geoff Gulevich and Jesse Melamed heli to the top of Reco Peak at over 2500m (8350′) and drop in making the 15km (over 9 miles) decent down the freshly forged trail.
