Mountain Biking in New Zealand is fantastic. I recently had the opportunity to ride the trails in the Redwood forest outside of Rotorua, New Zealand. Rotorua is located about 3 hours south of Auckland and is the home of some of the best mountain bike trails I’ve ridden. The trails are built on land owned by a forestry company and were built and are maintained by the local mountain bike club. They’ve done an outstanding job of building a mountain bike park that caters to all skill levels of riders. Trails for novice riders to experts and everything in between are available and were being used by hundreds of riders the day I rode. All I can say is that if you ever find yourself in that part of the world, make a point of putting a few miles on their excellent trails, you’ll love it!
